Fleming Island is not an actual island, but it is an area of Clay county that is bordered by water on most of it’s sides. The Northwest is bordered by Doctor’s Lake, the East by the St. Johns river, and the South by Black Creek.

Like most suburban areas, Fleming Island in known for it’s great family neighborhoods. One of the more notable neighborhoods in this area is Eagle Harbor, a golf course community with a family-friendly amenities center.

Located South of Jacksonville, Fleming Island is bordered by Orange Park to the Northwest, and is a short drive south to Green Cove Springs.

A nice shopping mall, many beautiful parks and preserves, good school zones, and quiet, tucked-away neighborhoods all make this area a top choice for families.

One of my favorite neighborhoods in Orange Park is Eagle Landing. It is similar to Eagle Harbor in Fleming Island. The neighborhood has it’s own private water park, tiki bar, kids zone, ice cream shop, fitness center with an indoor basketball court, and a golf course and clubhouse.

Located southwest of Jacksonville, Orange Park is a short drive east over the Buckman Bridge to Mandarin, or a quick trip south to Green Cove Springs.

Middleburg is one of the most rural of the Jacksonville area suburbs. It boasts a few beautiful state parks, including the pictured Jennings State Park.

Public schools in this area include Wilkinson Jr High School and Middleburg High.

Middleburg is the proud home of Johnny Van Zant, lead vocalist of the Southern Rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Located Southwest of Jacksonville, Middleburg borders the city of Orange Park, and is also a close neighbor with Green Cove Springs.

Like many of the Jacksonville area suburbs, Green Cove is known for it’s great parks and outdoor recreation. A popular park is Spring Park. Located right along the St. John’s river, the park includes a spring-fed pool, playground, gazebo, and a large green space where the city often holds events.
